Programs and Services
The Genesis Centre offers a variety of programs and services to assist start-ups through all stages of technology development - from pre-incubation and business model development, to investor readiness. Our goal is to help entrepreneurs commercialize their ideas and to build successful companies in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Business Incubation Program
Start-ups must apply to be accepted into the Genesis Centre's Business Incubation Program. Applicants must be able to drive a start-up in its early stage and show potential to achieve multimillion-dollar annual revenue within a few years of commercialization. The proposed technology is assessed in terms of its intellectual property, its industry application and the ability to produce or develop that technology.
Once accepted into the program, start-ups may stay for up to3 years, developing their technology and building their company. In addition to a working space alongside other entrepreneurs and an in-house support team, start-ups get access to top marketing, finance, university and management resources to help them succeed. The Genesis Centre also assists start-ups with setting upIndustry Advisory Boardsfor their companies,so that entrepreneurs have access to business experts with a variety of backgrounds, experience and viewpoints.
The Evolution program is for early stage start-ups and candidates who want to apply to the Genesis Centre to become a client. It's a 5-week intensive workshop to help entrepreneurs identify their markets and validate their idea. At the end of the 5 weeks, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to promote their venture to an industry panel during a formal Pitch Night.
