What is Dream, Girl?

"We know the names of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg. But what about the female entrepreneurs? What's their story? From brand new startups to million dollar industries, it's time we stop telling girls they can be anything they want to be and show them what it means to be a leader."

Dream, Girl is a documentary film showcasing the stories of inspiring and ambitious female entrepreneurs produced by Erin Bagwell & Komal Minhas. Dream, Girl launched at a private screening at the White House on May 26th, 2016 followed by a sold out world premiere June 9th at the iconic Paris Theater in NYC on June 9th, 2016. Why Dream, Girl?

Newfoundland & Labrador is home to a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem that seeds, supports and nurtures a stream of emerging startups. Through private industry, academic and government policy efforts, the province has built a robust engine to accelerate the level of entrepreneurial activity across all sectors. However, like many jurisdictions across Canada, NL has a disproportionately low percentage of female entrepreneurs, and increasing the number of women who start their own businesses remains a daunting challenge to address in our ecosystem. The film presents the stories of a diverse trio of fascinating female entrepreneurs in the context of pursuing your passion and dreaming BIG.

This community event is presented and supported by: NLOWE, NATI, WISE NL, BDC, Cox & Palmer, St. John's International Women's Festival, Genesis Centre, Common Ground, Propel ICT, Futurpreneur Canada, MUN's Centre for Entrepreneurship, MUN's Centre for Social Enterprise and the Atlantic Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
