Technology Commercialization Workshop

OceansAdvance, in partnership with NATI and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development (BCTRD), are presenting an Atlantic Canada Technology Commercialization Workshop in St. John's, NL on October 26-27, 2015.

About the Workshop

This two-day workshop is designed to address the many issues companies face when developing new technologies for commercialization, and will provide participants with a strategy and methodology to use when bringing new technologies to market.

The workshop will provide participants with the business development knowledge and skills to ensure best practices are followed, in turn improving the companies' capabilities and increasing their likelihood of success when introducing new technologies to the international marketplace.

About the Consultant, Rick Rasmussen

Mr. Rasmussen is a Managing Director at Concordia Ventures, a leading education and advisory firm focused on International Business Development.  He is a Silicon Valley native with entrepreneurial, executive, government and academic experience focusing on startups and growth stage companies.  He works extensively with governments and economic development agencies looking to connect with Silicon Valley, and currently lectures on Entrepreneurship at both UC Berkeley and Stanford University.  

Mr. Rasmussen served as VP of Business Development for nestGSV, a large-scale accelerator in Silicon Valley with clients including Japan, Korea, Austria, Armenia, Palestine, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, and Singapore. Prior, Mr. Rasmussen served as the Trade Commissioner for the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade with responsibility for linking Canadian IT companies to the Valley.  Prior, he served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Institutional Venture Partners, Interim CEO for @Road, President and CEO for  

He is an active member of the Sand Hill Angels investment group and has been part of five Initial Public Offerings including LSI Logic, C-Cube Microsystems, @Road, Sage and Intellon.  He currently advises half dozen companies in mobile and international social media and serves as a Director of CritterPix, an animated feature film startup in Marin County, CA. and LionSharp, a presentation-based gesture control company in Yerevan, Armenia.
